I work with a lot of solopreneurs, small businesses, and self-published authors.
These are my kind of people – the ones with the DIY spirit.
Someday – I know the dream is there – they will have a booming, bursting business, making well over six figures a year, and they’ll be able to hire their very own web guru. Jeeves, they will say, please take this massive cheque and take care of the website, maybe get a little something extra for yourself, and then they’ll never much have to think about it again.
But until then, they’re doing most of the work of running a business themselves. They might have a VA that can handle adding new products to an online shop, or even a social media consultant on retainer who updates their site on a regular basis with blog posts and media links.
Or they might be doing all that awesome content generation and marketing work themselves.
Either way, most small businesses or solopreneurs need help building their website, because they don’t want to have to learn a whole bunch of specialized design and techy coding stuff for a one-time build.
They need someone who can set up shop for them online – make sure their layouts are visitor-friendly, their design eye-catching, and most importantly, that the back end is super user-friendly and ready for someone else to pop in and add fresh, SEO-grabbing content on a regular basis.
They are keen and willing to UPDATE the site.
They just need a little expertise to BUILD the site.
That’s where I come in.
I learn about their business and understand their main message and their goals for their site.
I build a site for them that is eye-catching and captures who they are and why they do what they do, in a fraction of the time it would take for them to do themselves.
I add in all the great tech features – safety, security, speed, SEO – that they maybe wouldn’t even have thought of. I make sure their sites have all the great features they want – shops, memberships, custom coding – but make sure the back end is easy enough for them to update.
Then – this is the important part – I teach them how to use it.
Every one of my sites comes with a complete, detailed document that walks you through every aspect of the site – everything from how to add new posts to how to add a new product to your shop to how to access your contact form entries.
If you live in the Ottawa area, you can combine that with in-person walk-throughs and training, too; or we can book a video call and I’ll show you a few of my coolest tricks.
I like to tell my clients, I’m always here if you need me, but I want you to feel like your website is yours and you own it and you’re free to actually use it.
If you’re in a rush and can’t bother to update your site with a few changes, and would like me to do that for you, I’ll be here.
If you’re stuck trying to figure something out and have some questions, I’ll be here.
If your site needs a software update, and you’re nervous about potential problems and want an expert on hand, I’ll be here.
But if you’re a do-it-yourselfer – and you know exactly what you want to say, and how you want to say it – then I don’t want to be a barrier between you and your audience.
I want you to be able to update your own site, whenever you want – you’re the one in control, I just work here.
